This will be my 3rd year participating in the Pledge the Pink Walk October 14-17, 2021. Hopefully this year I’ll be able to actually walk in Hilton Head along with so many others rather than walking at home because of social distancing.
While the walk in 2020 was different it still had the same purpose… I will walk 30 miles over 3 days in honor of those currently fighting the fight, those who are in remission and in memory of those who are gone.
My mom, who had a radical mastectomy in 1971 was diagnosed this past October with metastatic breast cancer. She almost made it 50 years cancer free. Now you see why it is so important to keep fighting this terrible disease. She is also fighting another terrible disease… Alzheimer’s. She is a tough woman and an inspiration to me.
This Is Why We Walk
Did you know that $100 funds a mammogram?
Which means that every 100 dollars you donate could save a life.
We recognize these heroic donations by placing a plastic pink flamingo in our annual Flocks of Love display for every two mammograms raised.
Our Flocks of Love has held the Guinness World Record for several years, and with your help, we will shatter our previous records and our flock will stand over 5,000 strong in 2021 as we shatter our own record and raise ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
That means 10,000 men and women across the country will be able to receive free mammograms during the scariest 15 minutes of their lives.
Early-detection pushes the breast cancer 5-year survival rate to nearly 100%. Mammograms are the best way to catch breast cancer early.
Every cent you donate here will be tax deductible. It’ll go straight towards a mammogram for a woman who can’t afford one.
Together, we’ll slice through red tape, and help our service provider partners fill the gaps — getting care to the women who need it most, and in the end, saving lives.
Please help me this year by donating this year to Pledge the Pink.
Thank you. Check out some pictures from the 2019 and 2020 Pledge the Pink Walks.
