My Story
I say this every year…These days there are very few people who can say they don’t know anyone effected by Breast Cancer.
This will be my 7th year participating in the Pledge the Pink Walk this October. I have a wedding the Saturday of the Walk so Connie and I are going down early and will walk 10 miles Wednesday and 10 miles Thursday on our own. We’ll walk the last 10 miles on Friday with the rest of Pledge the Pink.
I wish that my list of friends & family affected by cancer didn’t keep growing but that is not the case. OUR HOPE, OUR DREAM IS THAT ONE DAY THERE WILL BE A CURE…until then we keep on fighting, walking, raising money to help those in need.
Last year our team raised over $32K. 75% of that was given to a Charity of our choice. We picked “Mary’s Place by the Sea” which is a respite home in Ocean Grove NJ for women who are receiving treatment for cancer. They provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, and yoga. They offer integrative services to women with cancer and provide rest and support during this challenging time in their lives. They are empowered with knowledge that will aid them on their road to healing. In addition to offering day and overnight retreats, Mary’s Place also provides a suite of Virtual Services. All accommodations, meals and services are provided at NO COST to our guests thanks to our generous donors.”
I will walk 30 miles over 3 days in honor of those currently fighting the fight, those who are in remission and in memory of those who are gone.
This Is Why We Walk
Did you know that $100 funds a mammogram?
Which means that every 100 dollars you donate could save a life.
We recognize these heroic donations by placing a plastic pink flamingo in our annual Flocks of Love display for every two mammograms raised.
Our Flocks of Love has held the Guinness World Record for several years, and with your help, we will shatter our previous records and our flock will stand over 5,000 strong in 2021 as we shatter our own record and raise ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
That means 10,000 men and women across the country will be able to receive free mammograms during the scariest 15 minutes of their lives.
Early-detection pushes the breast cancer 5-year survival rate to nearly 100%. Mammograms are the best way to catch breast cancer early.
Every cent you donate here will be tax deductible. It’ll go straight towards a mammogram for a woman who can’t afford one.
Together, we’ll slice through red tape, and help our service provider partners fill the gaps — getting care to the women who need it most, and in the end, saving lives.
Please help me this year by donating this year to Pledge the Pink.
