My Story

Breast Cancer hasn’t quit, and neither will I.
The COVID pandemic may have interrupted my walking plans, but this year I am back at it!

In October, I will walk my 360th mile (not including the many, many more while training) in support of the fight to end breast cancer. And I will keep on walking until pink ribbons are only used to decorate little girls’ hair, and not as a symbol of this terrible disease.

This year’s 3 day 30 mile walk will be in the beautiful low country of South Carolina, on Hunting Island, Habersham Island, and Fripp Island.

Again this year, we will cover Fripp Island with flocks of flamingos, each representing $200 raised. Previously we have set the World Record for the largest flamboyance of lawn flamingos, and we hope to exceed that in 2022. Moreover, my team has committed to leading the charge to reach an event record of $1 million raised!

Pledge the Pink is an all-volunteer organization that raises money for breast cancer research, as well as funding mammograms, biopsies, treatment, as well as transportation assistance, childcare/eldercare during appointments, home care, and other needed support for women who are in the fight.

EVERY PENNY RAISED goes straight to 501 (c)(3) nonprofits or to providing special grants to further the fight.
