My Story
I have been involved with the Breast Cancer Cause since 2003. Thanks to your generosity, I have raised over $100,000 for the “Avon 39 Mile Walks to End Breast Cancer”, the “Susan G. Komen” local walks, The American Cancer Society’s, ” Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” and the “Relay For Life”. Since 2019, I have been involved with “Pledge the Pink”, the 30 mile, 3-day fundraising event which takes place each October in South Carolina, to benefit the Breast Cancer cause nationwide. My team of women from various parts of the country, along with hundreds of men and women from across the U S. join together to help support those suffering from this horrible disease.
This year, 2022, we will walk to celebrate Terry and Barb, two team members who are Breast Cancer survivors. We will walk for those currently in treatment or are survivors of all forms of cancer. We will walk to honor the memory of those lost to this horrendous disease. Cancer does not discriminate. It affects people in all walks of life in all areas of the world of all races and with all beliefs. I will personally walk with Laura, Karen, Sunny and Lani in my heart this year as they navigate through the realities of breast cancer. My long-time dear friend Kathie lost her life to breast cancer recently. She kept singing and dancing and smiling as long as she was able.
Please join me if you can, by making a donation to this event to help fund mammograms and treatment programs ACROSS THE COUNTRY. You may not know that a $100 donation will fund a mammogram for a woman or man who may not otherwise be able to have this life-saving medical test. Any amount will be deeply appreciated! Thank you for your consideration and for sending positive thoughts in October for 30 miles on these 79 year old feet and legs. Love, Jean
UPDATE: In the past year, Jim and I have lost 6 special friends to various forms of cancer. I continue to walk for them.
