My Story

My introduction to breast cancer came at a very young age. In 1973 I was taught how to change my Moms surgical dressings after her first radical mastectomy.
I was 13 years old and my Mom was only 36 years old.
That experience taught me empathy and compassion and led me to a very rewarding 45-year nursing career.
Over those 45 years I observed drastic improvements in breast cancer screening, treatment, reconstruction, and support services. Pledge the Pink donations help to keep these improvements ongoing. Every dollar helps to make mammograms available to all women and supports vital research in the search of a cure for breast cancer.

I am honored to be walking for breast cancer survivors – my wonderful and caring sister Sue and my beautiful and resilient daughter-in-law Diane. And I am honored to be walking in memory of 2 incredible women who lost their battles to breast cancer – our warm, loving, and devoted Moms – ZoeAnn and Janina.
