My Story
As many of you know, this event is near and dear to my heart. Each year I meet inspiring new people and hear amazing stories of how the funds we raise help to further the research to put an end to breast cancer. And each year, I leave the event feeling more and more eager to keep fighting for a cure. In recent years though – breast cancer hit my family hard, and you better believe we’re ready to fight back.
Sitting here, writing this “Why I Walk” update, all I can think about that this is just unacceptable! And honestly, that’s exactly why I will never stop walking. I will never stop raising money. I will never stop sporting pink. I will never not advocate for early breast exams and mammograms. And if you know me, you know I’ll never stop trying to find a cure.
So why do I walk? I walk to honor my Mom, who was my biggest cheerleader and was taken away too soon. I walk to honor my Aunt, who introduced me to this beautiful pink bubble. I walk to honor all of the amazing survivors and fighters I’ve met along the way. I walk so my family doesn’t have to walk. I walk so my kids and nieces don’t have to walk. I walk so we have a future where we don’t have to walk and it’s just for fun! I walk so no one ever has to hear “You have breast cancer’ ever again.
