My Story
Jennifer and Julie, are Team PYNE-ing for a Cure again this year! Here is Jennifer’s story:
On April 1st, 2010, I was diagnosed with Stage 3C breast cancer. Yes, on April Fool’s Day. No joke! Since that day, I have made it my mission to do my part to help find a cure. Shortly after my diagnosis, my sister Julie and my dearest friend Stefany walked in a 3-day breast cancer walk. I was humbled by their efforts and decided that I was going to be well enough to do a walk like that one day.
Well, since 2011, my sister and I have participated in 13 fundraising walks, walking 39.3 miles in two days, or 30 miles in 3 days. My daughter Madison and Julie’s daughter Libby have walked with us and others have joined us on shorter walks during the pandemic and beyond. We were so excited to have Stefany join Pledge the Pink in 2024!
We have had many friends and family members who have battled breast cancer over the years. This year we are dedicating our walk to ALL those who have been affected by breast cancer.
Please consider a donation today or consider walking “with us” in your city during this year’s Oak Island walk October 16th-18th! We will be walking 30 miles, but even if you only walk 1 mile, we’d love to have you join us in spirit! Always fighting for a cure!
