My Story
In 2023 I will take on my 11th Breast Cancer Fundraising Walk. For the third year in a row, I will participate as a member of Team Virginia in the Pledge the Pink three day, 30 mile walk to end breast cancer, this time in Oak Island, NC. Team Virginia is a group of friends, spouses and partners from Northern Virginia who are all committed to finding a cure for breast and other forms of cancer.
I walk because of my many friends and relatives who have fought this terrible fight with cancer.
During the Covid Pandemic, I taught myself how to sew using my Mother’s antique sewing machine. This year, I am raffling-off two beautiful fight breast cancer-themed quilts that I made myself over the last several weeks. The raffle winner of Quilt #1 was drawn on May 1st . How fortunate that the winner is a dear friend, former Team Virginia teammate, and significant annual donor— who is also a breast cancer survivor! Congratulations to Sheila!
Quilt#2 is being raffled on May 9th, just in time for Mother’s Day!. Photos of the quilt can be seen on this page. The quilt is Pledge the Pink themed, with loads of pink flamingos and various fight breast cancer fabrics. One chance per $25 donated. If you wish to enter this raffle, please put a comment on your donation that you want to enter the PTP quilt raffle.
With the support of people like you, we can help to end this terrible disease and provide mammograms and treatment for underserved populations who are impacted by breast cancer.
