My Story
My mom, Barbara Cox, was diagnosed in 2005 with Breast Cancer.
In 2012, her Breast Cancer came back with a vengeance, and has spread to her kidney’s, bladder and colorectal areas in her body. She thought she had a kidney stone, only to find out on her 60th birthday that her cancer has spread. Two months and one day later she passed away of cancer.
My mom, was a true inspiration and role model to everyone she met. My mom never met a stranger!!
She loved dressing up for all the holidays and for all her walks she did.
She was number 1 in our hearts and always will be!!
2022 will mark the 10th anniversary of her passing and I wanted to do something special to honor her memory.
A couple of years before she passed my mom participated in this event and loved every minute of it and I thought this would be a great way to honor my mom.
Right before she passed, I asked her if she would like to have her own team or walk with our company we worked for. It was then that she said she wanted her own team. I asked her what she wanted her team name to be and she asked if she could think about it for a little while. She was on 3000 mg of oral chemotherapy twice a day. It was then that she came up with our team name “Boot Scoot’n Boobies!!” She absolutely loved the Brooks & Dunn song “Boot Scootin Boogie!”
