My Story
This year, I’m participating in Pledge the Pink in honor of my dear friend Carol, who lost her battle with cancer. Her strength, kindness, courage, and unwavering faith continue to inspire me every single day. I’ll be walking to celebrate her life and memory while supporting others who are still fighting this disease.
My friendship with Carol began in 2015 when we both participated in Pledge the Pink — then known as Loco Motion — for the very first time. The event brings awareness to breast cancer, something that had already become deeply personal to Carol after her diagnosis in 2013. Not long after, I learned that I tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation, which made this cause even more meaningful to me.
From the moment we met at that event, we instantly connected. Over the years, we returned to participate together, and our friendship only grew stronger. Along the way, we found countless other reasons to spend time together — concerts, half marathons, and simply making memories that I will cherish forever.
Cancer touches so many families, friends, and communities. Every donation helps provide support, fund research, and bring hope to those facing this journey. Whether you’re able to donate, share this message, or simply cheer me on, your support means more than words can express.
I will carry Carol’s memory with me every mile along with having a tribute sign created in her honor that will be displayed during the event, ensuring her spirit remains a part of this journey. Thank you for helping me make each step count.
