My Story
I’ve lost count of all the people I know that have battled breast cancer! This dreadful disease has affected family and friends alike. Many are thankfully still here but sadly not all have won their battles. We have joined a team of beautiful sassy ladies to walk 30 miles over 3 Islands in 3 days with Pledge the Pink.
Yep! We are all walking together on another fun adventure in lands unknown for a very worthy cause! I am honored that three of the women I am walking with have personally dealt with breast cancer, my Mom, Aunt Kathy and Sister. However, in reality this places me in a high risk category with higher frequency of testing even though we do not have the breast cancer gene. Fortunately, I am blessed with good insurance but I know MANY are not so fortunate. Every $100 donated is a free screening for someone and early detection can make the difference! We would so appreciate if you donate to the cause!
In addition for every $100 donated there is a (plastic) Flamingo added to the Flock of Love display that we can decorate and add a name of a breast cancer survivor or honor a loved one that was lost! So if you donate $100 or you and a friend donate $100 combined and want the name of a special person on the Flamingo please let us know! We can bring or mail the Flamingo to you after the event as well. PLEASE do not feel obligated to donate that amount….every dollar counts!
The Flock of Love display is a jaw dropping, and an intensely poignant display of honor and gratitude, knowing that each bird was adopted in dedication of a loved one. It has held the Guinness World Record for several years in a row and they intend to shatter the previous record this year.
Of course, all donations are tax deductible! Donors will get a tax receipt via email.
Each bird represents one free mammogram. One life possibly saved. Thank you for considering making a donation! If you see us out walking please say hi – you know what we’re training for!
