My Story
Hi! As many of you know I am a breast cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2015).
This will be my 2nd year participating in Pledge The Pink.
During the Pledge The Pink campaign, those participating will walk 10 miles each day during this 3 day event. Because of a traumatic leg injury in April this year 2024, I may not be walking much but will be there to support & volunteer!
When a friend first told me about this campaign back in February 2023, I was excited to jump on board and celebrate my survivorship by raising awareness & funds to help in the battle.
Little did I know that in less than 2 months (early April 2023) I would again get the dreaded diagnosis. No one EVER wants to get the awful news that their cancer has come back & it is devastating, believe me. But after the initial shock & meeting with my Oncologist I learned that things were different this time? How you may say? Well since the time of my original diagnosis in 2015 a very successful new drug has been developed giving new hope, health & life to breast cancer survivors who have recurrence by way of metastasis.
So, I hope you can understand why I now have an even greater passion for this cause. It’s because, without campaigns like this that help support foundations who provide research & develop these drugs, I would be facing a much different road ahead.
While there is still technically no “cure” for this awful disease, remission is a great probability. I can’t tell you enough how grateful I am for this wonderful advancement. One that has occurred in just these few short years since the beginning of my journey. My doctor suggested that because of continued research, who knows what might be possible in yet another few more years.
At this time, my health is good, I’m in remission & I feel wonderful!
If you are able, your support to Pledge The Pink would be appreciated & who knows, it might help develop more “miracle” drugs like the one I’m taking or maybe even a CURE!!
*Personal pics are from various stages of my journey, including treatment, hair loss & regrowth. Also pics with one of my besties who came from Mich to walk with me last year 2023. It was an amazing time like no other & we made precious memories with my entire team!
