My Story
For the 15th consecutive year I’ll be walking October 17th-19th in South Carolina for a cause almost all of us have been affected by—breast cancer. Each year I’ve been honored to carry the names of people I love, and those loved by my generous donors. What started in 2012 with 24 names has now grown to over 130. Please know that I carry all of their stories with me every step of every walk—so I’ve got some pretty fabulous company along the routes. Randomly I’ll ask a fellow walker or spectator to ‘pick a card’ and read out loud what it says. The universe definitely works in mysterious ways and it’s rare when the card chosen doesn’t seem to mirror exactly what the selector needs to hear—so those cards frequently offer hope or solace to a complete stranger.
If you’re able to donate this year, thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart—-we have so much to be proud of because together we’ve raised almost $70,000 since 2011!
Far too many people—whom we love dearly, are affected by cancer in all of its awful forms, and this year has been one of tremendous loss and pain. This year I’ll be adding 2 more names to my cards—2 dear friends who have been some of my most loyal and steadfast donors since the beginning—thankfully their diagnosis’s and treatments were what we all hope for! One of my dear walking buddies is going through a breast cancer journey now—for the SECOND time, sometimes there really are no words. I can’t think of a more dedicated walker and supporter of this cause— and I pray she feels all the love and prayers sent her way by so many!
My hope and prayer has been since my first walk—and will remain until my very last, that when a cure is found for ONE form of cancer—a cure for ALL cancers will be found! Please know that no donation is too large or too small! Over the years, the smallest has been $2.50, and EVERY donation has humbled me and meant more than you’ll ever know!
