My Story
Kate is the strongest and most selfless person I ever met, her family and friends mean everything to her. She raised two wonderful boys and they are the center of her world. She always tries to understand how others feel and loves with all her heart. In June of 2022 we received the dreaded news. She was diagnosed with breast Can@3r. (We don’t acknowledge the word in our house)
My wife Kate has been very diligent about her preventive healthcare and routinely receives her mammograms’ & ultrasound. In fact, she had to go every six months for several years due to areas of concern. She was cleared to go annually again, but in June of 2022 when she went to her first annual appointment again we received the news! Her mammogram and ultrasound was concerning and an MRI was ordered.
July 11, 2022 was the start of her journey. From biopsies and genetic testing to MRI’s which ultimately led to her double mastectomy on August 4, 2022. The recovery was long with some tough times and some laughs. During her recovery when she was still medicated she still was thinking of others. Many friends and family asked how they can help and her response was “get a mammogram.” She published a post on Facebook while she was 1 week out of surgery that was beautiful and a plea for her friends to “get checked.”
If it was not for her diligence and her amazing team of doctors this may have been a different story.
To honor Kate, we are fundraising so all women (& men) will have the opportunity for a mammogram. We partnered with Pledge for Pink to help those in need.
