My Story
I have heard the words “My Cancer’s back” one to many times!
The first was my Mother-in-Love Ginger (she was never just an in-law). They called us for dinner and it couldn’t wait…, We were sitting in Longhorn when she said those words. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer then developed metastatic adenocarcinoma 6 years later… she was gone in 6 months.
Through the years the “C” word keeps rearing its ugly face. My closest family/friends Breast, Ovarian, lung cancer, thyroid cancer….
Then there is Kim – the reason I am here today. I really do not remember exactly when we first met I know it involved the love of Great Danes! May have been a paddle board on a lake….. Something about her, we just clicked! At the time we met she was already a 2X cancer SURVIVOR.
It was the season opener for the Charlotte FC 2024, we met up for pre-game drinks as a local brewery. Nonchalantly in Kim style she says “My Cancers Back….”
For Kim and Ginger, Jenn, Kathi, Amy, Jill, Judy, Tracy, Jerri, and the thousands of woman that will face cancer in their life time. We will walk, we will laugh, and we will cry laughing I promise (have you seen the pics from this event)!!
30 miles in 3 days this October. My Goal is $500 but I know we can blow that out of the water!
