My Story
On April 1st, 2010, I was diagnosed with Stage 3C breast cancer. Yes, on April Fool’s Day. No joke! Since that day, I have made it my mission to do my part to help find a cure. Shortly after my diagnosis, my sister Julie Ekholm Camp and dearest friend Stefany Yocum walked in a 3-day breast cancer walk. I was humbled by their efforts and decided that I was going to be well enough to do a walk like that one day.
Well, since 2011, my sister and I have participated in nine fundraising walks, walking 39.3 miles in two days, or 30 miles in 3 days. Many of you have supported us in this journey and we can’t begin to thank you enough!
We have also had many friends and family members who have battled breast cancer. This year we are walking on our own but we are dedicating our walk to ALL those who have been affected by breast cancer. Please consider a donation today or consider walking “with us” in your city the weekend of October 14-17! We will be walking 30 miles, but even if you only walk 1 mile, we’d love to have you join us! Always fighting for a cure!
