My Story
You may know me as Laura, La, Chef, The Salted Caramel Bar Queen, or LBoe. However you know me, THANK YOU for visiting my page. Here is my story.
December 26, 2000. The day I got the news that I had breast cancer. From there it was a non-stop series of doctors, treatments, surgeries and recoveries. In short, I lost an entire year to cancer.
I have tried to live every day to my best. Doing what makes me happy, with those people that make me happy.
I began marking the milestone years with doing breast cancer walks. Miles and miles of walking for breast cancer research. In 2018, I discovered Pledge the Pink (PTP). This organization was like none I had ever encountered before. The motto is “It’s the best darn weekend of your life” — and it was in so many ways. This organization doesn’t require fundraising, yet so many participants do. For every $100 raised, a mammogram is donated to someone who can’t afford one. I was unable to walk in 2019 due to shoulder surgery, but I came to event weekend to volunteer and I have decided that this is how I want to give back.
2025 is gonna FLAMAZING!! Happy to be back at Fripp Island (which is one of my favs and where I began volunteering) and let the shenanigans begin.
Every little bit helps.
Thanks for helping me reach my goal.
