My Story
I am doing the 30 miles again this year to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Every year I am amazed at the number of women I meet who are fighting for their lives despite all the medical advances.
-Breast cancer accounts for 12.5% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide, making it the most common cancer in the world. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. women; about 30% of all newly diagnosed cancers each year are breast cancer.
-About 13% (about 1 in 8) of U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer in the course of their lives: an estimated 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed. There are currently more than 4 million U.S. women with a history of breast cancer, including women currently being treated.
-In 2023, an estimated 2,800 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 833.(Breastcancer.org.)
Every woman in my family has been affected. Your donations will support treatment advances and earlier detection through screening. We are most grateful to anyone willing to support our walk with a donation to defeat this insidious disease.
