My Story
Some, but not many of you, know that I was diagnosed with Stage 2b breast cancer in October 2020. As if Covid wasn’t enough to worry about, right? I started just by having a weird burning sensation under my left armpit so decided it’s time to see a Doctor. It had been some time… So Ladies, go get your mammos regularly!
Mammography showed a small tumor and ultrasound indicated it had traveled to my lymph nodes. Then after more tests it was determined I would need chemo and radiation… I am very fortunate to have had insurance in place that covered these treatments.
It’s hard to imagine going through something life threatening and then not having the funds to get proper care.
My dear friend, Margaret Grojean, brought my attention to this foundation when she did her first fundraising walk with Pledge the Pink 5 years ago. When I was going through my treatments, Team Boo Bees was there for me with words of encouragement and love. I was motivated to get through this and join the team effort to raise funds for this cause which has effected so many of us. I am happy to say I am BACK! Healthy, Strong and feeling great. It is my honor to be walking with Team Boo Bees this October 2022 in South Carolina, 30 Miles in 3 Days to help raise funds for this amazing organization. Pledge the Pink raised over $570,000 in 2021!
Please consider donating to Pledge the Pink to help join the fight against breast cancer. No amount is too small. For every $200 that is raised by our “FlockStars”, a pink flamingo is placed in the annual Flocks of Love display.

Below is more information about PTP and it’s origins.
In 2011, Pledge the Pink (originally LoCoMotion), was a small, local, charity race aimed at fighting cance in South Carolina and getting the lowcountry in shape.
Now, we’re an ambitious, not-so-small-, breast cancer event-one that’s pushed 10,000 people off the couch, and given over a half-million dollars to breast cancer charities across the country.
Through our sister charity Pledge the Pink Foundation (formally known as Carolina Cups), these dollars provide gap funding for heroic, budget-restricted, nonprofit service providers.
We are able to slice through red tape and support game-changing beneficiaries across the country.
