My Story
Hi friends and family!!! This will be my 12th year, so the sky’s the limit to reach my goal! My story? In 1998, I lost my precious mom to this awful disease. Years later, our family again lost another treasure, my Aunt Sherry. Enough right! That in itself is enough to make me want to walk! But in January. 2015, I went to the doctor thinking I had gallbladder problems, and after multiple tests received a phone call telling me I had… you got it… cancer! Stage 4, Breast and bone! Boom! Then, along came the Facebook adds for this thing called Loco (later to become Pledge the Pink) – which has now become my family and my Village! Every year we walk 3 days, 10 miles a day in October, thinking about this nasty disease and what it does to anyone affected by it! We have gained so many memories, friendships, and blisters – but all worth it!
Pledge the Pink is not tied to the Komen Foundation, it is a smaller event, one that feels like a huge family to me now since this is my 12th year, and I have a huge personal goal of over (I’m actually terrified to put this out here!) $15,000!!! (Ilast year you all helped me get to over $10k!) PTP raised a little over $1 MILLION in 2025!!! We demolished our original goal of $750,000!
PTP is near and dear to my heart, and the impact it has had on me is phenomenal! I was one of the lead volunteers, so I can vouch for the integrity of the Founder and Board, they are personal friends of mine! Every $100 funds a mammogram! Check them out www.pledgethepink.com!
I know with as many friends as I have, certainly I have 50 or 100 that love me enough and/or have been impacted by cancer that will give up a cup of coffee or 2 for a few weeks to sponsor me!!!
If you have a business we can come sit in front of and tell people about it, bake sales, or any other suggestions, let me know!
Every little bit will help me along, so please just do whatever you can do!!!
