My Story
I had a routine screening mammogram on May 25, 2022 with an immediate diagnostic mammogram. I’ve always had dense breast tissue so I wasn’t too worried. Neither was my good friend who is a surgeon. After a biopsy
and an MRI, I was told I had breast cancer in my left breast just weeks
after I turned 58. My mother was 56 and 58 when she had breast cancer. I
saw what she went through after a
lumpectomy and radiation then having
biopsies throughout her life since her
tissue was so dense. I opted for a
double mastectomy. When I received my pathology results after my surgery, I was told I actually had breast cancer
in BOTH breasts, not just my left one that was found and confirmed on MRI. What is most baffling, is the cancer in my right breast was a different cancer. It was an aggressive cancer. Mom and
I had genetic testing and neither of us
had the gene for breast cancer nor
other cancers. I don’t want others to
have to go through what we went
through. I am raising money to help buy Mammograms for people who can’t afford them. I had no lumps, and it was my routine mammogram that caught my cancer early. Early detection saves lives and that’s why routine mammograms are so important. Will you please help me
raise money to provide free mammograms to those can’t afford
them? Let’s save some lives!
