My Story
As a two-time breast cancer survivor, this event is near and dear to my heart. After years of being poked, zapped, reshaped and drained of energy, I am THRILLED to report I remain cancer free! With nearly SEVEN years behind me, I am still regaining my strength and endurance; but I have been incredibly blessed to have my family and friends rooting me on.
This year, I am dedicating this fundraising page to my dearest friend, Sally. Sally was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39. She had been cancer free until the cancer returned and she gained her angel wings in March of 2024 at the age of 55, When she found out that the cancer has returned as Stage 4 and had metastasized into her bones, I was fortunate enough to help care for her during the final weeks. Those three weeks were filled with both laughter and tears as we looked backed on the 40 years of our friendship/sisterhood. Sally was such a compassionate and giving soul. Her faith, hope and optimism carried her through the daily trials of treatment.
It is my hope we will all continue to “pledge the pink” and raise money towards fighting this awful disease. As I look in the rearview mirror, with my treatments behind me, I cannot help but think of the women still fighting and those, like Sally, who gained their angel wings too early.
I want to pay it forward and help my fellow warriors as they face this difficult time in their lives.
As cancer patients, we are initiated into an exclusive club; a club that we never wanted to join. Yet, here we are, side by side, fighting for our lives. Breast cancer does not discriminate. We are a group of various ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds. Our cancers and treatments are as unique as we are.
The monies raised will help fund mammograms for women who cannot afford them; education and treatment for women who otherwise would not be able to receive it; and transportation to and from treatment for patients who have no means of getting there.
