My Story

It’s been 22 years since I heard the dreaded words, “You’ve got breast cancer.” Through the grace of God and great medical care, I lived to tell my story, though I’m mindful not everyone is so fortunate.

Though an unusual pain in my breast took me to the doctor, a mammogram showed nothing. The first follow-up test revealed one relatively small tumor – but additional tests revealed five tumors! I learned that not all technology – and not all doctors – are equal.

I was fortunate to have great health insurance and access to great medical care. But that’s not true for everyone. So I’m walking to raise awareness and funds to ensure more women (and men) have access to screening and treatment – and professionals have funds to continue researching prevention and treatment.
