My Story
Hi, I’m Terry, and my first “Pledge the Pink” walk with Team Virginia, will be in 2023. I’ve done many 5K Fun Runs and Walks for various causes over the years: “American Heart Association” in memory of my grandfather; Coached “Girls on the Run” with a local elementary school team; and most recently for “Cure PSP,” to raise awareness for a friend who is fighting her battle with that disease.
My dear friend, Alison, has been participating in the “Pledge the Pink” walk for 11 years! In 2022, she began intensive training for her October walk, and I asked her if she had a training buddy. She invited me (or perhaps I invited myself) to join her in her final months of training. We walked eight, nine or ten miles each day, which always included a Starbucks stop and lots of coffee talk about the PTP event and our friends who were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We mixed up our routes each day and I learned more about the “Pledge the Pink” event and became interested in joining Team Virginia! My husband, Chuck, is joining me for the 30-mile, 3-day walk in October 2023, and we are looking forward to raising funds, in honor of our many friends who have battled Breast Cancer and continue to fight the good fight!
Our 2023 training season has begun, and we are covering a lot of miles on the trails! To assist with my fundraising efforts, I am making embellished denim jackets, with a portion of the proceeds going to my fundraising page. Reach out to me if you are interested in a custom jacket (or vest) for the cooler months!
With the support of people like you, we can help to end this terrible disease and provide mammograms and treatment for underserved populations who are impacted by breast cancer.
