3 Breast Friends

Kerry and Linda, two of my breast friends had signed up to walk and even though I’m not much of a walker, I couldn’t pass up the chance to help the cause! My name is Kelly Byrnes and one of my Breast Friends Mel has stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. The cancer grew faster than any one of us anticipated and spread to her bones and liver in just over a year. We went from drinking wine for girls nights to watching her get poked and prodded at the hospital for blood transfusions, platelets and now Chemo.

Despite Mel’s situation, she has continued to have an amazing attitude and cheerful demeanor with everyone she meets, even the nurses that cause her arms to look like a pin cushion. So whats 30 miles if Mel can be so positive despite her pain. So I am walking and fundraising for her!

Mel isn’t the only woman I have known to have breast cancer, she is one of many unfortunately. I have strong amazing friends who have beat it, sometimes more than once and we fully expect Mel to as well! Kerry herself had a scare years ago and Linda’s own sister is fighting it now too! So I walk for everyone, especially Mel, Michele, Kerry, Linda, Linda’s sister Mary and everyone else that has dealt with this.
