My Story

Sugar’s Trekkers for Ta-Tas are looking forward to Oak Island in 2026! It will be my 17th year participating. In the past, I’ve walked in the Komen 3-Day, the Avon 2-Day, the Georgia 2-Day, and Gloria Gemma’s GloriDays, and Pledge the Pink.

I walk in memory and in honor of many family, friends, and friends of friends who have battled breast cancer – my mom, aunts, cousins, and husband’s cousins. I also walk as a Previvor – being diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene mutation. I was lucky enough to find out and take action before breast cancer found me!

Our team also walks in memory of the many cats and dogs who have been diagnosed with mammary cancer. We educate the public as we walk to let them know the importance of checking their pets for lumps and bumps. Our team mascot, Sugar the cat, is a pink warrior!

Thank you for supporting me with a donation to a cause that is so important to me.
