My Story
Why We Walk
Cancer has affected so many people I know and love that it’s inspired me to join Pledge the Pink. I walk with 6-year breast cancer survivor, Ann Tess, several times a week in preparation for the Pledge the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness 3-day, 30-mile walk in October.
My best buddy of 52 years also walks with us. Fred and I celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary this year and the fact that he is a 10-year colon cancer survivor. When we walk, we walk for a cure for ALL cancers. We walk for Ann, and we walk for our daughter-in-law, Beverly, who is an 9-year breast cancer survivor, and her sister, Jennifer, who is currently fighting her battle a second time.
We walk in memory of those who battled cancer and are no longer with us. We walk in honor of all survivors and those who are currently fighting cancer and those who will fight it in the future. Hopefully, one day, we will no longer need to walk for a cure. Until then, these two old soles will continue to walk.
Walking is just the beginning. We will also fundraise. If you would like to help us raise money in the fight against cancer, please donate. Any amount, small or large, is greatly appreciated.
