My Story
I am walking in the Pledge for Pink in Amelia Island October 2024 in memory of my dear friend Rebecca.
What can I say about Rebecca… what comes to mind is what you see is what you get. She was beautiful, giving, authentic, loyal and fun just to name a few qualities that I loved and admired about her. I miss her so very much.
Rebecca passed in July 2023 at 57 years of age from an aggressive form of breast cancer. She was tenacious (in a good way) and fought like hell.
Rebecca was a giver. She gave of her time, talents and treasures to causes that mattered to her. We served on two boards together and I enjoyed every minute. We worked hard for our causes but had fun along the way. Family & friends were everything to Rebecca.
As I embark on this journey to walk in memory of Rebecca, I ask you to please support my walk if you are in a position to do so. No gift is too small. Although my goal here is to raise funds to fight cancer, I will be accepting names of others to inspire and push me throughout the walk. You do not have to make a gift for me to add your love ones to my list of inspiration. Please email me their name to: gbortz61@aol.com
Breast cancer research needs our help. We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. All cancers sucks! I am walking for those who are fighting the fight of their lives, those blessed to be in remission, and those like my friend, Rebecca, who fought like hell but succumbed to this vicious decease.
