My Story

Approximately three years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a former Hospice nurse, I have to admit I was scared! Family and friends rallied around me as I faced my road to recovery. However, my happiness was bittersweet as I watched my friend, Joy, lose her fierce battle to this awful disease. Since my diagnosis and Joy’s death, I have watched several friends face the breast cancer diagnosis.

Now, I am a member of the J Team in the Pledge to Pink Breast Cancer Walk in October at Oak Island. We are walking in support of all our Bladen County Friends, and are excited to set an ambitious goal of $5K! It will be a privilege to walk in honor and memory of the friends and family of our supporters. Help us fight for a cure, for more effective treatments, and access to mammograms for early diagnosis!
