My Story
This year I am doing something new and exciting! I am participating in a 3 day, 10 miles a day walk in South Carolina. As you may know, in previous years I participated in the Avon Breast Cancer walk. Since 2009, I walked in 8 walks (Washington DC (twice), Chicago, NYC, Boston, and Charlotte). Each of these walks was 39 miles and I raised over $15,000 over this time.
It was a great time but my little team (Rockin’ Pink) decided to hang up our walking shoes that very year Avon stopped having these walks. Not long after this, the opportunity to participate in the Pledge the Pink walk came about. So, here I am once again, asking for support! Fundraising goals are not as strict as they were for the Avon walk, but the money raised is just as important.
That brings me to the important reason I am walking. June 2018, I lost my best friend since the age of 7 to Breast Cancer. I miss her every day and hope like ‘heck’ one day we will have a cure and no one else will lose their lives, their daughter, mother or best friend to this nasty disease.
