My Story

Hi! I’m Mary and a 2 year breast cancer survivor. My cancer journey started with being diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer 3 years ago. I had undergone surgery and chemotherapy which led to a NED diagnosis. However this diagnosis put me into a high risk category for breast cancer as my mother had ovarian cancer and my sister is a breast cancer survivor, plus my aunt had breast cancer. So I did a hi-risk MRI breast cancer screening for a baseline marker. Needless to say, cancer was detected but in an early stage.

Over the years, I have had friends and family members diagnosed with breast cancer. I joined this fantastic fundraising team called Hakuna Ma Tatas led by a fearless, courageous, AMAZING woman as she went through breast cancer just before my initial diagnosis. She started this team to help fight this disease. This will be my 3rd walk to raise money towards fighting breast cancer.

This year I’m raising funds for Pledge the Pink and walking with team Hakuna Ma Tatas for no more breast cancer worries. We have identified an important cause to support & are excited that our local community will directly benefit from our fundraising efforts. This year, funds are being raised to bring a contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) machine to central Wisconsin. This will help more women get access to cutting-edge care. Please join me in this fight!
