My Story

Team Hakuna Ma Tatas is a group of breast cancer survivors, friends & cancer fighters. I joined this team in 2024 after hearing my team captain’s cancer journey. Her story, and the stories of many others, including some of the amazing women on our team, are my why and inspiration for fundraising and walking. Team Hakuna Ma Tatas has grown to be a tribe of about 50 people working together to end breast cancer forever.

Together over the past 4 years, we have raised nearly $200,000 for our 3day team (Susan G Komen) being the top team in Chicago in 2023 & the #4 team in San Diego in 2024. In 2025 we tried something new – Pledge the Pink – where the majority of the monies our team raised were designated to help a local breast foundation. For 2025 Team Hakuna Ma Tatas teamed up with the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI to raise enough funds to purchase a contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) machine for our local breast center. CEM is new technology that can diagnose breast cancer earlier with higher accuracy than regular mammograms. We are excited to bring this equipment to central Wisconsin to help our patients get access to cutting edge care.

For 2026 we are very excited to return to Pledge the Pink and walk 10 miles per day for 3 days while fundraising to bring monies and awareness back to the central Wisconsin area. We are currently exploring several exciting opportunities to help patients in the central Wisconsin area.

Please help us raise money to provide early diagnoses for patients and work towards a world without breast cancer.
