My Story
Welcome to my 2022 Pledge the Pink fundraising webpage. This year’s 3-day, 30 mile walk will take place in Hilton Head, SC, and I have the great fortune to be walking with Robin, Sandy, Stephanie, and Gina, along with 1500 others who wanted to join in our fun!
On May 13, 2006, I registered for my first Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It has been a journey filled with countless memories, life-long friendships, and a few aching muscles. While the Avon Walks have ended, this year marks my 15th year participating in a breast cancer walk, raising funds and awareness in the fight to end breast cancer.
With your support, I continue to raise money and awareness in the fight to end all cancer. Since I began participating in 2006, I have raised more than $35,000 for life-changing programs and missions. Each dollar raised helps fund research, treatment, education, and support services for the medically under-served.
Your encouragement and inspiration has made the walking easier, and I am grateful to have had each of you cheering me on along the way.
I dedicate my 2022 walk to all who have been affected by cancer. Just like at Relay I will celebrate, remember, and fight back. Pamela, Suzie, Robin, Susan, Shana, Salena, Casi, Biyogue, and Lucy show me that we are fiercer than this single disease. I walk for my Uncle Jim who is also a survivor, and my brother Greg who is still cancer-free. I walk in memory of my dad and Lisa’s dad, for Dorothea’s mom, and for Jennifer, Bob, Lili, Camden, Cathy, Shannon’s mom, Deb’s sister, Cathy’s dad, Bev’s husband, and Darcy’s mom. The list is too long, but I will continue to walk in their honor until cancer is a diagnosis of the past.
Thank you for always supporting me in whatever way you can. My list of supporters is endless and each year I am humbled by all that you do. There are those who wake up at 530am to walk with me and help me train, and those who have provided lodging for me during a training walk or after our 39.3 miles. I have friends and family who donate their time for a fundraiser, those who support me financially to help me reach my goal each year, and those who cheer me along from the sidelines. Whether you do one, several, or all of these things, know that I could not do any of this without you.
You have my endless gratitude and thanks.
Love, Carrie
