My Story
I’m doing it again as it was an amazing experience being surrounded by so many strong, passionate women! There are so few of us that can say they don’t know anyone affected by breast cancer and it sucks! I have had close scares myself where I have to monitor and get mammograms every 6 months. But I feel blessed that I’ve have the resourcesfor the check ups, screenings and mammograms. Fact is that 1 out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Good news is that there are advances in early detection and treatment methods have increased survival rates and that there are over 4,000,000 survivors in the US alone! https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/breast-cancer-facts/
We need to continue to help fight the fight and we need your support. Every $100 earned goes to 1 FREE mammogram which means we can help thousands of women and men across the country get screening. The earlier we detect the better chances of treatment and survival.
I will walk 30 miles over 3 days in honor of those currently fighting the fight, those in remission and in memory of those who are gone.
Every cent you donate will be tax deductible. It will go straight towards a mammogram for a woman who can’t afford one.
This is why we walk:
Pledge the Pink supports the fight by funding biopsies, treatment, and research.
Every penny of our race proceeds goes straight to 501 (c)(3) nonprofits, such as the American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic, Hollings Cancer Center, Volunteers in Medicine, Comprehensive Health Services, and countless other cancer-fighting beneficiaries. These dollars provide funding for heroic, budget-restricted, non-profit, service providers.
We also provide special grants to help with things like patient transportation to treatment, childcare/elder care during their appointments, home care, insurance co-pays, lymphedema support, and medications.
Quite simply, we fill the gap and help people that need it most. Without the red-tape and bureaucracy.
A portion of our teams donations will also go to Mary’s by the Sea, a non profit in Ocean Grove, NJ where they offer wellness retreat options free of charge to women with any type of cancer to focus on healing. A friend of mine was encouraged to go here after her diagnosis and she said it was a gift for emotional, mental and spiritual healing.
Please help me this year by donating this year to Pledge the Pink!
Thank you all for your support!
