My Story

I’m Tracey Camut and this is my story. In 2016 while shopping for a mother of the bride dress something happened that would change my life. I had a breast cancer tumor pop out from behind a muscle. I would later find out that is was between a stage 3 and 4 ductal carcinoma tumor. One week later I was in an 8 hour chemo treatment and was facing the fight of my life. I was no longer worried about what I would be wearing to my daughter’s wedding but was I going to be there.

After 4 treatments of Charboplasm/Taxol/Herceptin/Perjeta monthly I went to weekly treatments because my body was shutting down. I then completed 11 more weeks of chemo, surgery of a double mastectomy (including 27 lymph nodes) and thirty rounds of radiation. To wrap is all up I finished a year of Herceptin and Perjeta.

I was then complete or al least I thought I was. No one prepares you for that moment when they say, “We have done all we can. Now go live your life”. Your entire cancer treatment is countless iv’s of fluids, blood draws, teats, appts., meds and now you’re done.

It is so hard to describe the feeling of not knowing what to do. I struggled for a very long time. I then saw the Pledge the Pink Walk information. The first walk that I attended post cancer changed my life. I felt like I knew every cancer fighter there. I made lifelong friends, celebrated life with old friends and learned how to love life again. This is my hope that every cancer patient will get to feel that feeling.

Please consider donating to help find a cure and help save lives. Cnacer can take so much from you but it can also give you the wil to make the best of every moment life has to offer. Thank you for reading my storey and for considering a donation.
