My Story
We walk because we can
We walk because they can’t
We walk because we think it will make a difference
We walk because it HAS made a difference
We walk to honor them
We walk to remember them
We walk
These feet have walked many miles over the last 15 years and this year they will walk again to support the cause. This organization raises money to support those foundations that help women (and men) who are battling Breast Cancer or need resources for breast health. Each $100 provides a mammogram to someone who may not otherwise be able to afford it. We know that early detection saves lives. This is a small quest to make a difference.
There have been many lost to this dreaded disease. I walk to remember Joanne Franzenburg, who was diagnosed in April of 2014 and died just 14 short months later. She walked the walk and did her mammogram every year. From 2013 to 2014 something changed and there was a spot. Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This is not the one you want. It is a life destroyer.
Mary (Darlene) Stewart, one of my closest friend’s mom, lost her battle in 2022. She had been diagnosed some 13 years prior. The first year I met her daughter, Amanda, we crossed the finish line thinking her mom would not make it to Christmas that year. We went on to see her through multiple rounds of Chemo and Radiation, multiple surgeries, and brain surgery. She fought the good fight and in the end, we gathered around her room and she slipped through our finger tips.
My mom did not have breast cancer, but cancer none the less. She battled for 7 years and was in remission, when it snuck up and snatch her from me in December of 2021. She fought to heal and fought to stay another day, but in the end, CANCER won. It is an unfair fight, no one should have to undertake. When we find a cure for one, we will find a cure for all.
Please consider a donation. If you cannot spare an extra dollar, please share my page. You never know who it will touch.
