My Story
As many of you know, in November 2014, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My cancer was found on an ultrasound following a mammogram. I was fortunate that mine was found very early and highly treatable. I am blessed that I have good insurance and can receive quality care.
Many people are not so fortunate…they don’t have the resources, funding, or even information to receive services from providers. Just by chance in 2017, I saw a post on Face Book about PLEDGE THE PINK. It caught my eye because who wouldn’t want to do a charity walk/event in beautiful South Carolina. In September 2017, I did my first PTP and walked 30 miles in 3 days. I have been part of Pledge The Pink ever since. In October 2025, PTP was at Fripp Island, SC. In addition to Greg and Alicia joining in the fun, Matt and Emily were able to attend this year-it has become a family affair! Hopefully in 2026, David will also be able to get in on the fun. In 2026, we are headed to Oak Island, NC.
I am also honored to share that in 2025, I served as Vice President on the Pledge The Pink Foundation Board. I am excited to help PTP again this year as a board member.
Please consider donating to this amazing organization-it is a cause near to my heart. No amount is too small. For every $100 that is raised by our “FlockStars”, a pink flamingo is placed in the annual Flocks of Love display. Thank you!!
Below is more information about PTP and its’ origins.
In 2011, Pledge the Pink (originally LoCo Motion), was a small, local, charity race—aimed at fighting cancer in South Carolina, and getting the low country in shape.
Now, we’re an ambitious, not-so-small, breast cancer event—one that’s pushed 15,000 people off the couch, and given over a million dollars to breast cancer charities across the country.
Through our sister charity Pledge the Pink Foundation (formally known as Carolina Cups), these dollars provide gap funding for heroic, budget-restricted, nonprofit service providers.
We are able to slice through red tape, and support game-changing beneficiaries across the country.
