My Story
We are back at it-raising money to provide mammograms, support services, meals, transportation, etc to any man or woman who needs it through the PLEDGE THE PINK foundation.
My dedication to fundraising began when I lost the love of my life, Cowboy Pat, to melanoma in 2004. Since then, experiencing the loss of many friends and family members due to cancer brought me together with the friends I walk with now. We walk the 30 miles, laughing, crying, singing with one purpose-not to let cancer define or defeat us or the ones we love.
We travel at our own expense to participate in this fundraiser because we have researched where the money goes and how it is distributed and we believe in it. (The location isn’t too bad either for us mountain women preparing for snow). An exciting benefit this year, because of two rockstar teammates of mine, is that we are able to dedicate 75% of our team money that is raised to our choice of a charity and we have chosen the Gloria Gossard Breast Cancer Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I am happy to explain any details about this if you have any questions.
Please consider a donation in support or memory of a loved one. My teammates and I believe that when a cure for cancer of any kind is found, it will benefit all types of cancer diagnosis’s and our future generations will not have to go through this pain of loss that we all have endured.
