My Story

My 4th Pledge the Pink weekend brought us back to Fripp Island, SC October 17th-19th 2025 which was extra special because it was the 15th year of PTP and what a FLA-MAZING weekend it was. There were only 6 of us (including 2 NEWBIES) but always great to see besties from near and far!! Thank you to all my donors for 2025 – I raised $6,326 (so much of that from NKITF team mates who couldn’t do the walk last year – LOVE my friends!) New Kids In The Flock team raised $12,276 and the grand total raised by all the Flock-stars for 2025 was $1,016,815.29! Woo Hoo – we hit the $1M mark for the first time ever! The weather was “perfect”, our house was awesome and I ended up randomly meeting one of my Mom’s colleagues from her teaching days who is a local artist and we were able to share things about Mom – made my heart so happy!

I am signed up for the 2026 3-day, 30-mile walk , October 16th-18th back on Oak Island, NC where PTP was welcomed with such open arms in 2023 we are thrill to be back – 2026’s theme to celebrate Fancy’s (our flamingo mascot) 16th yeare is “Mardi Gras Masquerade” or “Mardi Bras” for short!

One of my earliest memories as a child was learning Grandma Bessette had breast cancer. That was 55+ years ago…Grandma went on to have chemo and go into/out of remission three times over the next 20+ years before she succumbed to this awful disease. Since then, Mom has also had breast cancer (also a survivor and 84 years old) and so many friends/family as well. I am blessed to not have heard those scary words and am happy to be joining the fight along with 1,499 others through Pledge The Pink to find a cure.

Please join me/our team “New Kids In The Flock” and make a donation to get us to $1M again this year! Happy to say that 3 of the original 2022 ten of us are walking for our 5th year!
