My Story
June 2017 – Tim and Scott graduated from high school. They were about to join Caroline as college students and Chris and I were embarking on “our year of adventure” as empty nesters.
August 2017 – An irregular breast ultrasound changed those plans. I was diagnosed with noninvasive ductal carcinoma. After a couple of previous lumpectomies and a strong family history of breast cancer, I opted for a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction to avoid recurrences and chemo/radiation.
October 25, 2017 – There were trials and tribulations with the surgical process that caused me to undergo 3 surgeries within a few months so I questioned that choice until the pathology came back and I found out that the cancer was actually invasive. I haven’t regretted my decision since.
October 2023 – I will be walking 33 miles to raise money for breast cancer research. Every step, I will be grateful ~ 6 years cancer free! If you are able, please support me and those who have yet to be crowned survivors ~ thank you so very much!
