My Story
Pledge the Pink, a walk for breast cancer, is being held on Fripp Island, SC this year. It is a three-day event, walking 10 miles each day honoring those currently fighting the fight, those who are in remission and in memory of those who are gone.
Crystal and I are walking again this year with the rest of the Breast Buddies Forever team. We are looking forward to this inspirational 3 day event.
Not only are we doing something healthy for ourselves, but also hoping to raise money to help others. We all have been touched by breast cancer in some way and see the stress it puts on people. One of the many ways Pledge the Pink helps is by providing mammograms. Every $100 funds a mammogram and that can save a life.
Last year our team raised over $32K. 75% of that was given to a Charity of our choice. We picked “Mary’s Place by the Sea” which is a respite home in Ocean Grove NJ for women who are receiving treatment for cancer. They provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, and yoga. They offer integrative services to women with cancer and provide rest and support during this challenging time in their lives. They are empowered with knowledge that will aid them on their road to healing. In addition to offering day and overnight retreats, Mary’s Place also provides a suite of Virtual Services. All accommodations, meals and services are provided at NO COST to our guests thanks to our generous donors.”
I hope you can donate to our team, whether big or small, we would really appreciate it!

This is why we walk:
Pledge the Pink supports the fight by funding biopsies, treatment, and research.
Every penny of our race proceeds goes straight to 501 (c)(3) nonprofits, such as the American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic, Hollings Cancer Center, Volunteers in Medicine, Comprehensive Health Services, and countless other cancer-fighting beneficiaries. These dollars provide funding for heroic, budget-restricted, non-profit, service providers.
We also provide special grants to help with things like patient transportation to treatment, childcare/elder care during their appointments, home care, insurance co-pays, lymphedema support, and medications.
Quite simply, we fill the gap and help people that need it most. Without the red-tape and bureaucracy.
