My Story
Hello friends!
I will be participating in a 3 day, 30 mile Breast Cancer walk called Pledge the Pink, October 17-20, 2024 and will be fundraising as a way to give back.
Two and a half years ago, after a routine mammogram I became part of the 1 in 8 statistic when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately- it was caught early. I was lucky enough to have excellent healthcare as well as options. I was able to avoid chemo/radiation but did undergo a unilateral mastectomy. Happy to say that all is well and I’m busy trying to live my best life-mindfully and with gratitude.
While a portion of the donations our team raises will go to Pledge the Pink, which grants funding to service women in need of mammograms, biopsies, treatment and research; this year, our team will also make a donation to Mary’s Place by the Sea, a non profit in Ocean Grove, NJ. Here, they offer wellness retreat options free of charge to women with any type of cancer to focus on healing.
Once the fallout from the initial diagnosis/surgeries and physical healing was over, I found myself left with a myriad of “big feelings” . My dear friend Nancy, encouraged me to go and spend a weekend at Mary’s place, and I am so glad I finally did . Mary’s Place is truly a place of emotional, mental, and spiritual healing, powered by volunteers. It is a gift that a place like this exists for women from all over the country to take advantage of.
It is my great pleasure to help fundraise with my walking team to give back to the place that gave so much to me.
Thank you for considering a donation for these organizations that do so much for others. Our Team, BREAST BUDDIES FOREVER 2024, will walk 30 miles over 3 days in honor of those currently fighting the fight, those who are in remission and in memory of those who are gone.
