My Story

This October I’ll be heading to Oak Island NC to participate in the Pledge the Pink Breast Cancer walk. I will be joining old friends as we walk 30 miles over 3 days in support of the Pledge the Pink Foundation. Pledge the Pink Is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity dedicated to funding breast cancer screening, treatment, and outreach for uninsured/underinsured populations. This year our first team goal is to raise $5K in order to participate in the “Choose Your Charity” program . This program allows teams who fundraise a minimum of $5000 the opportunity to direct 75% of their fundraising total to a specific charity. This year 75% of our team’s donations will be directed to the Novant Breast Health Fund and the UNC REX Healthcare Foundation mammography assistance fund to support free mammograms for uninsured/underinsured women in NC and SC. 25% will remain with the Pledge the Pink Foundation to support vital research in support of a cure for breast cancer. Our overall team goal is $15K.
