My Story
I am excited to be a part of the Breast Buds team for the 2025 Pledge the Pink Fundraising Event, October 16th – 19th on Fripp Island. Over the last 5 years Breast Buds has raised over $44,500 toward breast cancer screening, research, and treatment. Amazing!
I am walking 30 miles over three days to honor my family members, friends, and countless women affected by this disease. My grandma lost her battle to breast cancer and my Aunt is a two time breast cancer survivor. A few statistics – According to the American Cancer Society 1 in 8 women, or approximately 13% of the female population in the U.S., will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. We need to do all we can to further research, awareness, and screening.
Our team goal this year is $10,000. Once we surpass $5k, we get to choose which charity will be the recipient of 75% of our money raised. This year our team has selected the Novant Breast Health Fund! The monies donated will help pay for mammograms for uninsured and under insured women in North Carolina and South Carolina and support charities local to the Low Country.
I am seeking your donation to help me reach and exceed my goal of $3,000. No gift is to small!
