My Story
My Mom had her first radical mastectomy when I was 14 years old and her second when I was 44. When I was younger I never realized the impact cancer would have on my life. My Mom lived until she was 80 and during that time she was so supportive of others who received the same diagnosis. I never thought much of that. But, now I see the strong, supportive community that brings us together.
I was diagnosed in September of 2025, right before a trip to Greece with my friend Linda and her church group. I knew very few people in the group, but at the airport I heard Denise talking about this walk she just finished. Needless to say, I was where I needed to be at that time. The group embraced me with more than prayers. Prior to returning to the States for a lumpectomy, I came to know several women in the group who had breast cancer or supported survivors. We bonded and said we would make the trip together as a group. There are 6 of us traveling together to walk, raise funds and awareness for something that touches many of our lives.
My daughter surprised me and ran the Broad street run in Philly this year in my honor. I want to walk for the women in my life who have been impacted by cancer and to raise awareness for future women. Money raised helps those in PA. Please consider a donation for the future of the women in our lives.
