My Story
Happy 2026! This marks the start of my 9th year as a Pledge the Pink Flockstar. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this remarkable organization dedicated to raising awareness of and finding a cure for breast cancer.
I am thrilled that PTP2026 is returning to the incomparable relaxing Oak Island, North Carolina, with a festive Mardi Gras theme.
The adventures on Fripp Island in 2025 were memorable as evidenced in my photo spread! I loved reconnecting with old acquaintances and enjoyed meeting some wonderful new friends along the daily 10 mile treks. Sharing the experience with my dear friends Barbara Anne and Joan added to the fun. And to top it off…I was privileged to qualify through my fundraising for a trip to Spain to walk the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in April!
Of course, the most compelling and overriding element of all is WHY I participate and WHY I walk. . .way too many loved ones lost to cancer…and the more we can do to support education, prevention, early detection, research toward a cure, and compassionate outreach and support to those battling so valiantly, the better!
I am so humbled by the generous support of family and friends who thoughtfully backed me in the past 8 years with generous financial donations to PTP and shared well wishes and prayers.
I am pleased to be walking again as a member of the “For 3 Sisters” team! Please check out this terrific Maryland-based organization at https://www.f3s.org
I have established an ambitious goal for 2026 as I am firmly committed to doing my part to help meet PTP’s overall goal of $1 million dollars! We proved in 2025 that it can be done.
We CAN do this and make an even bigger difference in the fight against the scourge of cancer.
Every $100 raised will help make a mammogram available to someone who cannot afford this vital preventative health checkup.
Let’s get me to $5,000 and together, we’ll potentially save 50 lives.
Can you commit to help me with a $9 contribution? That’s $1 for each of the years I have been involved with Pledge the Pink. If feasible, $30…$1 for each of the 30 miles I will walk in October. Every contribution helps!
