My Story
5 Years. A Milestone I wasn’t sure I’d see.
On January 11, 2021, my world stopped. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer—one of the most aggressive forms there is.
Today, exactly five years later, I am celebrating a milestone that once felt like a distant dream. In the world of cancer recovery, five years is the “big one”—the point where the shadow of recurrence begins to lift. But while I am profoundly grateful to God for my health, I haven’t forgotten the “what ifs.”
What if I hadn’t had the insurance for that life-saving mammogram? What if research hadn’t advanced enough to treat TNBC?
This is why I walk. I’m participating in Pledge the Pink, a 30-mile journey over three days, to ensure that no woman loses her life simply because she couldn’t afford a mammogram or treatment.
Why your support stays close to home: Pledge the Pink is a non-profit where 100% of funds go to research and patient assistance. Because our team raises over $5,000, we get to choose exactly where 75% of those funds go. Last year, thanks to your generosity, we gave over $11,000 to the Buddy Kemp Center (Charlotte) and the Wallace Cancer Institute (Salisbury).
I want to keep that local impact going in 2026. Whether it’s $5 or $500, every penny stays in the fight. Will you join me on this journey?
