My Story
Breast Cancer hasn’t quit, and neither will I.
So far I have walked 600 miles (not including the many, many more while training) in support of the fight to end breast cancer. I will keep on walking until pink ribbons are only used to decorate little girls’ hair, and not as a symbol of this terrible disease.
I continue to walk for so many reasons.: About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 13%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. I know too many people who have struggled with and have been affected by this awful disease. My mom, became one of those women and the reason I started this journey. It came as a surprise because we had no cancer history in our family. Unfortunately, after being cancer free for 16 years, her breast cancer came back. Thank goodness we caught it early, surgery was a success and her prognosis is excellent. I am one of the lucky ones to be able to say she is a two time cancer survivor!
To all of you who have supported me in the past, thank you! Your support is what keeps me going when my feet are on fire and the blisters are bothering me. Hopefully one day we won’t need these walks anymore! As part of the event, I pledged to raise money. I would love your support so that I can reach my fundraising goal. With the donations raised, the Pledge The Pink organization will provide support, mammograms, and resources for women affected by this terrible disease.
