My Story
Hi Friends and Family,
Many of you have supported me as I walked in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Pledge the Pink in 2019 for the angels and survivors of Breast Cancer. I appreciate each and every one of you who donated to my 2019, 2022, 2023 & 2024 Pledge the Pink fundraising! I had such a blast i am doing it again in 2025 this is my 3rd year as a survivor!!
When I started my breast cancer walks a good friends mom Frannie was on my survivors side. We walked as “Team Frannie” in her honor. Since then, Frannie sadly passed and has moved to my angels side. I will continue to walk in her memory as she was my strength for walking 39 miles in two days.
This year continues to be close to home for me as my Aunt Sandy was diagnosed and is a survivor of breast cancer. My father had been battling bladder cancer for over four years and he passed away on November of 2022. I am emotionally excited to continue to walk in their honor and memory this year. Please let me know if you have any angels or survivors you would like me to walk for.
On May 31st 2022, I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. In March of 2022 I found a lump in my right breast, was misdiagnosed as just a boil and finally had it biopsied and diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I went through 15 rounds of chemo and was hospitalized twice. I had my right breast mastectomy in February 2023 then went through 28 days of radiation which left my right breast area and arm pits burned. I went through immunotherapy in July and August 2023 and had reconstruction 3 days after the October 2023 PTP walk.
A month after reconstruction, I developed an infection and wounds in my reconstructed breast and spent 9 months going to wound care every week and then 3 weeks of hyperbaric oxygen chamber which caused many side effects I wound up in the ER and a week before the 2024 PTP event the breast finally healed but I fractured my ankle and could only cheer everyone on. However, in 2024 I was able to share my story !
30 MILES ~ 3 DAYS
Did you know that $100 funds a mammogram?
Which means that every 100 dollars you donate could save a life.
We recognize these heroic donations by placing a plastic pink flamingo in our annual Flocks of Love display for every mammogram raised. I will be dedicating a flamingo to someone special in memory or honor for every $100 i raise at the event.
I would sincerely appreciate your support for this fundraiser as well as prayers for my family to continue to be strong survivors of cancer.
