My Story

I fundraise for Pledge the Pink because they put all the money raised directly into the programs they support – supporting those in the battle. They are all volunteers, and the administration and walks are supported by sponsors! God bless the PTP office staff for the hard work they do purely out of the love in their hearts!

I am a survivor of breast & ovarian cancer, and I deal with recurring skin cancer. I have dealt with the fears, the treatment, the huge bills. I have witnessed friends, family and acquaintances in the battle – some beat it, some didn’t, all fought incredible battles. My heart breaks for each of them. My fundraising is to honor them and I walk to celebrate each of them – and their photograph goes with me.

THIS YEAR, 2025, I am dedicating my walk to my dear friend, Terry Kenney. She’s an incredible fighter that is winning her long battle with cancer. I’m touched when she says I helped her get through facing her diagnosis with my testimony, but I now see her being a huge inspiration to others with her own. Her light shines through as she shares her experience. She leans on her faith and let’s the Spirit of God bring her comfort and peace while she is in the trenches. Her husband, Gene, has been an amazing support in every way he can, but only God can reach your core. She inspires me to keep moving forward with the Pledge the Pink mission.

Cancer has become all too common! We are all in the fight in some way, whether we know it or not. I have simply shifted from watching and occasionally donating, to advocating and openly fighting for resources. Resources that will sponsor research and programs that help individuals with rides, support, testing, and so many other things they need.

Our healthcare system is not supporting everyone in every way. Even if you have good insurance, you will likely have co-pays and other expenses that aren’t covered. Some medications/treatments are too costly and aren’t covered. People have to cut out things to pay the bills. Many earn too much to qualify for social programs, but too little to survive the massive debt.

That is why I am asking for your support. Please help me to raise the funds to help those that are struggling to get through their battles with dignity and take care of their families. And to support the research that is seeking cures for every type of cancer.
